THE RETURN

Johan Widerberg is back on the TV screen

(*The text in the black frame says "Man of the Month" and the caption says "What, me gloomy?".)

It's been some time since we last saw him. But on Christmas Day he turns up, in Ulf Stark's and Rumle Hammerich's TV series Herr von Hancken as the private tutor Bror Benjamin Carlander. The series, which is based on a novel by Hjalmar Bergman, is the biggest venture of SVT Drama in a long time, and the biggest TV event of Christmas.
Especially because our blondest soul man, Johan Widerberg, is back!
  In frills!
You've never thought about personally dressing like Carlander?
- No, I stopped distinguishing myself with clothes pretty early. Not to say I'm not interested in dressing well.
You're said to be totally into the legendary American company Stax. Why is it surprising that you have such good taste in music?
- The king of table tennis Stellan Bengtsson is said to have an amazing record collection and I understand that it surprises people. I mean, the general thought that all sportsmen listen to Dire Straits probably originates from something. But I don't know how it is with actors in general. Maybe it's the same thing?
You've managed to avoid the child actor trap.
- Yes, but as a teenager I never thought that I'd become an actor and therefore I was never worried that it would end.
Why do you always get cast in such boyish roles?
- It's not that strange. I still look like a teenager.
You lay very low, and you've never commented on the rumours about you and Tuva Novotny publicly.
- I'm very careful of my private life, no one has the right to pry into it.
How do you feel about docu-soaps?
- I follow them almost compulsively really. It's incredibly good entertainment. Sure, the participants are only there to get exposure but that's okay. It's their choice.
