Dorian Gray returns
By Lilith Waltenberg, 5 November 2001

The theatre Spring also offers Mattias Andersson's "Före detta" and "Antigone" by Sofokles. But Spring's big drama is "Romeo and Juliet" with Sara Sommerfeldt in one of the lead roles.

MALMÖ. Johan Widerberg and Rikard Wolff will return to Malmö Dramatic Theatre this Spring for a new run of last Spring's successful production of "The Picture of Dorian Gray". Several of the shows last Spring were cancelled due to illness. Now an additonal 17 shows are given at Hipp in February and March. The role of Sybil Vane is played by Tuva Novotny.
- The play was sold out and therefore we are happy to be able to play it again, says Malmö Dramatic Theater's newly appointed manager, Anders Lerner, who yesterday presented this Spring's repertoire.

Like Sydsvenskan could report last week, young Swedish playwright Mattias Andersson's "Före detta" premieres at Intiman on 15 February. The roles are being played by, among others, Kåre Sigurdsson, Birgitta Sanderberg and Håkan Paaske.
"Antigone" by the Greek playwright Sofokles premieres on 19 April. A play that according to Anders Lerner, is just as topical today as it was when it was written, about 2 400 years ago.
- It's about a young woman who opposes the political power and its fanatical position - a theme that feels very urgent, he says.

This Spring's big production at Hipp is Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" with Sara Sommerfeld in the female lead. That too, a classical play with an eternally current theme, according to Anders Lerner. The premiere takes place on 6 April.
